HIGH POINT RACING TURNS TO CASSIE GANNIS TO BRING PHOENIX SUN TO TSAI

SIMI VALLEY, California - High Point Racing is currently preparing for the 2009 Auto Club Late Model Season at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. With three straight days of rain during the Toyota All Star weekend behind them it was time to turn toward opening night on March 20, 2009.
One racer that team owner Tim Huddleston had the opportunity to spend some time with during the rain soaked weekend was Cassie Gannis from Phoenix, AZ. Cassie spent the 2008 season running races at Tuscon Raceway Park and The Bullring with her family owned Super Late Model. In the fall of 08 Cassie and her family loaded up their car to try their hand at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale in preparation for the Daytona 500 of short track racing.
It was at that time that the Gannis family observed High Point Racing. When High Point Racing announced that they were searching for drivers in December, Cassie was one of the first to submit her resume.
Cassie has been racing since she was 8 years old in everything from Bandolero's to Super Late Model's. In 2008 she had 4 top five and 8 top ten finishes at Tuscon Raceway Park.
In 2006, Cassie was forced to step away form racing for nine months. She was required to have corrective surgery for Scoliosis. Despite the intense stress that racing can have on a spine, Cassie returned to her racecar and has been at it ever since.
"As a team owner, Cassie is exactly what I'm looking for," Tim Huddleston explained. "She is a tough driver on the track and she uses her skills and abilities off the track to mentor young teen drivers through Students Against Drunk Driving program as well as our division sponsor, Southern California Auto Club."
Cassie Gannis got a chance to get acquainted with her new team during the rain delayed weekend. "I've watched this team a couple times race out here and from what I've seen, what I've heard, and what I've hung around here, they are an awesome team," she said. "I'm just proud to be here."
High Point Racing is proud to have Cassie on board as driver of the #56 for the 2009 season and hope that she brings some of that hot Phoenix sunshine when she comes for Auto Club Late Model night on March 28, 2009 at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.
