McCallister Precision Marketing – COLUMBIA, S.C. (Nov. 14, 2017) Brandon Lemke posted his best career Late Model finish in Saturday’s Southeast Limited Late Model Series Challenger race at Myrtle Beach Speedway.
Lemke qualified eighth for the race on Friday. The Eagle, Wisconsin teenager methodically raced his way up to the lead and challenged for the win, but ultimately settled for a second-place finish.
“The race was awesome,” Lemke said. “The car felt great the whole time and I had an awesome spotter watching out for me that helped me avoid a big crash in front of me. After leading a few laps, I was on cloud nine since that was the best we had ever been doing this season. Eventually, we got passed and had a hard fought bttle for second and ended up there after another caution ended the race. I had a blast at Myrtle Beach Speedway.”
The runner-up finish was the result of a week long effort.
“The weekend started off on Wesnesday morning when my dad and I got up at 2am to catch our flight,” Lemke explained. “We had to get there to get on track at a decent time with weather rolling in. Rain cut our day early and kept us from getting on track on Thursday. Friday was a good day to figure out the car and the track and see what it would do to tires. After seeing that we were a tad off, we knew tires would change that and sure enough, we were one of the fastest cars out there.
Lemke, who was racing for Leicht Motorsports, was ecstatic at the end of the day.
“Huge thanks to MPM Marketing, the whole Leicht family and their awesome program, Team Champion and my parents for giving me this opportunity,” Lemke remarked. “I can’t wait to see what next year holds. And Jackie Ward, he and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.”
